You got a friend in me.... Mama Elephant & Patterned paper

It has been AGES since I used pattern paper on a card.  I came really close a few weeks ago when trying to clear up some stuff from my craft room putting in a donate pile all my patterned paper since it was not being used.    However, just recently I saw someone use patterned paper for scrap paper and thought to myself, that is a good idea.   I have been using thin copy paper that I buy.   It is thin, you can use it to mask, cover up an image when ink blending, splattering, etc.     So I thought I will hold on to it a little longer and make some use out of it.   I guess just thinking about the paper, I pulled some out while I was making cards and made several using my old trusty patterned paper!   I have gotten so use to stamping and making my own background, I had forgotten about my ole trusty friends.   I will share some cards this week that I created using patterned paper.

Here is one today.  This is a stamp set that I love, so cute.  I tend to go for the cute, cuddly critter or people stamps.   It is the Ella & Friends stamp set by Mama Elephant.   I love the little images that can go with the Elephant.      I have really been trying NOT to buy any new stuff.  I realized that I have been buying more stamps sets than I can create with and some were only being inked up once or twice.   So this summer, I am trying really HARD not to BUY any new sets.    I break down every once in a while, I will admit that I am weak when the new releases come out and they are so darn cute!   So this is one of those sets that I really have not used very much.   And not because I don't adore it but I have only so much time to stamp!!!

Frogs, Snails and Puppy Dog Tails - My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge

Hey there!  This card was a work in progress all week.   I had an image in my head of what I was going to do and started working on it little bit in the evenings.    When I finally sat down to put the card together, it turned in a very different direction and I have a small bit of the sketch in it!   As it was coming together, it started evolving on its own and I was really happy about how it ultimately turned out.    I love shaker cards but I have had multiple issues making them.   I think I get so frustrated with them, I don't want to make them again for a while.   However, maybe my frustration finally taught me something.   This one came together, piece of cake!

I used many stamps sets to make this card.   It is a perfect baby shower card if you know someone that is having a boy.

Lawn Fawn - FIntastic friends Tank You

Wow, third post in a row for me!   I made several cards this past week and got an opportunity to take photos of the cards while I had some good light and sharing with you this week.    This is a new set from Lawn Fawn.  I only ordered the stamp set and not the die set and found that this is super easy to cut out.   It gets really expensive hobby when you think you need to buy the stamp set and die set.    Some sets I try to look at and determine if I can hand cut them myself to save money for other items that I really want to purchase.

When I saw this stamp set and a few cards made by different people, I really thought it was super cute.  I don't have a lot of Lawn Fawn sets but think that they are just adorable.   Since I did not have a fish set, this was perfect.    I kept the card base pretty simple but with some added bling.

I used some Ultra Thick embossing powder and covered my entire fishbowl to make it stand out.   I covered it three times with the UTEE.    I also used my MISTI with my background stamp to get really solid stripes with the Simon Says Stamp Smoke ink.

Stamps:  Lawn Fawn Fintastic Friends, MFT Striped Background
Ink: MFT Hybrid Black Licorice, Versamark, SSS Smoke Ink
Papers: MFT Grout Grey, Steel Grey, Tangy Orange, Copic Xpress it
Tools: MFT Pinked Circle Stax, Cross Stitched Circle Stax, Ultra Thick Embossing Powder, Clear Wink of Stella, MISTI, Hero Arts white embossing powder, Corner Chomper

Father's Day card with Mama Elephant Bear Hugs

I wanted to share today my card that I made this weekend for my dad for Father's Day.   This set from Mama Elephant has some great sweet sentiments.     I started with Neenah Solar white card stock and cut out a circle shape and stamped with the bears from the Mama Elephant Bear Hugs.  I colored with my Copic markers.   I heat embossed the sentiment in Hero Arts White embossing powder and used my flag die to cut both ends of the sentiment strip.   I added a heart that I had precut from red card stock and my Simon Says Stamp mini hearts die cut.    The focal image and sentiment strip was placed on top of a kraft card stock that had been stamped with a wood grain background step and cut out with an MFT Blueprint die for a stitched edge.   On the inside, not pictured, I stamped another greeting from the stamp set in Hot Fudge hybrid ink and added some stars from Sunsine Pigment ink.

Stamps: ME Bear Hugs, MFT Woodgrain Background
Ink: MFT Hybrid Black Licorice, Kraft, Hot Fudge (inside), Versamark, ME Sunshine Pigment (inside)
Papers: Neenah Solar White 80 lb, SU Basic Black, MFT Smooth White, Red Hot, PI Kraft
Tools: MFT Cross stitched Circle Stax, Fishtail Flag Stax, SSS Mini Hearts, MFT Blueprints 13

Nautical Shaker Card - My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there!    Today I created a nautical shaker card using the My Favorite Things Weekly Sketch.

First off, I love shaker cards but they don't love me.  I always have a problem when I am trying to make one.  It never goes smoothly and I end up either chunking the card or starting all over.   So this card did not turn out exactly like I wanted.   The first one got chunked and my background became the left overs from making the first card so my ombre effect is in reverse order.     See below, the first card my waves started at the top with Smooth White Card stock, then Sno Cone, Berrylicious and then Night Shift blue.    But that one end up in the trash.   Anyways…….  I tried to salvage what I could and my waves ended up in reverse.

I think it will be awhile again for me to make another shaker card!

Stamps: MFT Pure Innocence Sailor Girl
Inks: MFT Hybrid Black Licorice
Papers:  MFT Smooth White, Nightshift Blue, Sno Cone, Berrylicious, Neenah Solar white 80 lb., Acetate
Tools:  MFT Stitched Rectangle Frames, Pierced Flishtail Flag Stax, Stitched Scallop Edges, Pretty Pink Posh Sequins

When you need a hug…..

I have had this stamp set for a LONG time and I cannot believe that it has taken me this long to ink it up!   It is from Mama Elephant and it is called Shooting Star.     Last weekend I colored a bunch of watercolor backgrounds to have them ready in the future to make a quick card.    This week's Simon Says Wednesday Stamp Challenge was Friends or Superheros.    It features Mama Elephant.     I choose Friends.    I was going to go with the Superheros because I just love those stamps, but I had never inked up this stamp and it needed some love.

My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge MFTWSC232 - Thank You

Hey there!  Hope you are having a great Saturday evening.    This afternoon I sat down and really had no clue what I would do with this sketch.    I started looking thru my stash and found these beautiful Doilies that I had and thought they would be perfect.

My card is mostly die cuts.   But I love how it turned out.    So much so, that I made another card with some of  the leftover pieces that I had cut out.     Here was my inspiration for the colors.

This picture here shows you the details added by embossing with the Swiss Dots Cover up.

Stamps:  MFT LJD Pretty Poppies
Ink: Versamark
Papers: MFT Steel Blue, Insulation Pink, Fuse Green, Grout Grey, SU Calypso Coral

Here's the bonus card that I made.  I used the Mini Chicken Wire cover up and used an older Mini Doilie Circle set.    Pardon my Multi Matte Medium glue, wasn't fully dry when I made the photo.   I also used Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder on this one.

Thanks for stopping by!!   Have a great weekend!

Inks: Ranger Archival, SSS Sea Glass, Distress Antique Linen, Delicata Gold
Papers: watercolor, Neenah Solar White 80 and 110 lbs.
