Dad's Birthday - Purple Onion Designs

My dad turned 80 this week!  We are celebrating his birthday tomorrow so I wanted to make him a special birthday card.     I started with My Favorite Things Blueprints 20 and wanted to create a plaid background to create a base for my winter scene.    I used the die and cut out the scalloped background from SU Basic Black card stock and MFT Red Hot card stock stamped with the Gingham Background stamp with Black Licorice ink.    I used a Purple Onion stamp, Cedar, and stamped him on Smooth White card stock and colored with Copic Markers.     The sentiment stamp is from Simon Says Ink Sending and Wishing stamp set heat embossed with Hero Arts white embossing powder.

Stamps:  Purple Onion Cedar & Two Forrests, MFT Gingham Background, SSS Sending and Wishing
Inks: MFT Hybrid Black Licorice, Versamark
Papers: PI Kraft, MFT Red Hot, Smooth White, SU Basic Black
Tools: MFT Blueprints 20, Stitched Arch Stax, Pierced Fishtail Flag Stax, Sakura White Gel Pen, Wink of Stella Clear, Hero Arts White embossing powder, Copics, Ranger Stickles Diamond

Thanks for stopping by!

I am entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Die Challenge.
