Color Throwdown Challenge 398

Hope you had an excellent weekend.    I got to visit with family and spend some quality time which is fun.     I have had this stamp set for a white and did not get a chance to use it.   It is from Clearly Besotted and is called To You With Love.

I made my original card with Distress Inks.   I did two with Distress Inks and two with my Zig Clean Color.    The Distress Ink colors are Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed, Abandoned Coral and Crushed Olive.   The ones colored with Distress markers are much softer than the ones with the Zig.   They turned out much brighter.  Still trying to get the hang of the Zig markers.

Here is the card that I am entering in for the challenge.    The sentiment was stamped in Versamark ink and then Gold heat embossed.

Here is a shot of the four cards that I created today.    The two on the left hand side were done with Distress Inks, the two on the right were done with Zig Clean Color markers.

Lawnscaping Challenge - Distress Maniacs!

Hey everyone!  Hope you are getting ready to start your weekend!   This weeks Lawnscaping Challenge is Distress Maniacs.  So,  I used Distress ink on my card below for the background.    The images are form the ultra cute Lawn Fawn Mermaid for You stamp set.

I white heat embossed with a My Favorite Things Background stamp called Winter Waves.   Then I used several Distress Inks: Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Salty Ocean, Mermaid Lagoon and Blueprint Sketch.    Be sure to use a paper towel to wipe off the ink from the white embossing on the card.   I cut the panel with a Blueprints number 2 frame.   The mermaid and merman were stamped on Neenah Solar White and colored in with Copic Markers.   The sentiment was stamped on another Blueprint 13 label.    I stamped the small three hearts in Apple Mama Elephant Pigment ink and coated with clear Pico Embellisher.  The main panel was frames with the My Favorite Things Stitched Circle Scalloped Frame using Smooth White card Stock.

I am linking this card to the Lawnscaping Challenge below.

A Sakura White Gel pen was used to add detail to the images along with the dots added by the Copic Markers.

Mermaid for you - Lawnscaping Challenge Off Kilter

I am popping in to share a card for a challenge that I saw today.   I bought this stamp set at my local scrapbook store this weekend and when I saw this challenge on the Lawnscaping Challenge web site, I knew exactly what I wanted to do!

I started out by creating the background with Ken Oliver Color Bursts in Ultra Marine Blue and Pthalo Green to create the water background onto watercolor paper.   To create the sand,  I used Distress inks in Gathered Twigs and Rusty Hinge.   I spritzed with water to lift some of the color and  give the sand some texture.

The images were colored with Copic markers and then fussy cut out.   I had stamped many images from the set and then laid them out to determine what images I would use for my under the water scene.    The mermaid on the right was tilted to the right (off kilter :-).   She looks to me like she is swimming backwards or floating upwards by tilting her.   The images were popped up off the card to add more dimension.

Here is a photo to show the dimension lifting some of the images off the card panel and how it can make the images pop off the page.

Here is a link for the challenge:

The base was stamped with a My Favorite Things Background stamp called  Lots of Dots and stamped in MFT Summer Splash ink onto Summer Splash card stock.  See below for a full list of supplies.   Then for a final touch, I used my Sakura White Gel pen for some dot detail, I colored the shells, bubbles and seahorse with Wink of Stella clear for some sparkle and then coated them with the Pico Embellisher to make them glossy.

Stamps:  Lawn Fawn Mermaid for You, MFT Lots of Dots Background
Inks: MFT Black Licorice Hybrid, Summer Splash dye, Ken Oliver Color Bursts (Ultra Marine Blue and Pthalo Green), Distress Inks  (Rusty Hinge and Gathered Twigs), Versamark
Papers: MFT Summer Splash, Smooth White, Arches Cold Press watercolor paper
Tools:  MFT Scalloped and Stitched Rectangle Stax, Rectangle Stax 2, Pico Embellisher - Clear, Wink of Stella Clear, Copics, Hero Arts White Embossing Powder,  ME Landscape Trio, Distress Sprayer, White Sakura Gel Pen

Give a Hoot! Color Throw Down Challenge

This is a new challenge blog that I decided to play along with this week.   It is call the
Color Throw Down Challenge.        In this challenge, they provide a photo with some colors.   See below for this week challenge.    I took some Bristol Smooth card stock and sponged some Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn and Peeled Paint Distress ink on the card stock and then spritzed with some water to get the water drops on the card.   It was trimmed down with MFT Wonky Stitches Rectangle stax.    I used a double stitched circle die from Lil' Inker and cut a circle thru the panel and card base layer.    To add the cream to my card, I colored this owl image from a Paper Smooches set called Chubbie Chums and cut out with the coordinating die.   I also cut another owl and created a spinner in the middle of the panel circle.    I added some wooden veneer starts from Studio Calico.    The sentiment is from Chubbie Chums and it was placed on a white tag cut from MFT die and added a jute bow.
