80th Birthday!

My step father in law turned 80 this past month and I created a special card for his birthday using two great stamp sets - Lawn Fawn Lovable Legends and Neat and Tangled Lumberjack love along with some dies from My Favorite Things and Mama Elephant.   I also used several background stamps from My Favorite Things!

My Favorite Things Cool Cats - Sketch Challenge

Happy Sunday!   Hope your day is as beautiful as mine!   The temperature is 76 degrees and beautiful sunny weather! I am sharing a card that I made for the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge using the Birdie Brown stamp set, Cool Cats.

The panel was inked in one corner with Distress inks: Tumbled Glass, Broken China and Mermaid Lagoon.   Then the panel was spritzed with a Broken China Distress Ink Pen.   The panel was cut with the Wonky Stitched Rectangle stax.     I die cut MFT Patterned paper from the Fresh Gingham paper pack with Stitched Basic Edges and attached to the bottom of the panel.   The cats were colored with Copic markers on Copic Xpress it card stock and then cut out with my Brother Scan and Cut 2.  I also die cut some Puffy Clouds and Radiant Sun and adhere to the panel with foam tape to add dimension.  The sentiment was stamped in MFT Hybrid Black Licorice Ink with the Lisa Johnson Designs Birthday Greetings on the panel.   That completed the card!

Forest Friends from My Favorite Things

Hey everyone!    I decided to pull out my watercolors this weekend.  It has been a while for me.  I have this new stamp set from MFT called Forest Friends.   I decided to use this weeks My Favorite Things Sketch and made a scene, loosely interpreting the sketch I would say!

I could not get any good photos with my Canon Camera today.  I am not sure why but they all turned out a little blurry.  So these I shot with my Iphone.

All products MFT unless otherwise noted.
Stamps Set:  Forest Friends
Inks: Hybrid Black Licorice
Papers: Arches Cold Press Watercolor, Kraft
Tools: Wonky Stitched Rectangle Stax, Tremendous dies, Studio Calico Veneer stars, Peerless Watercolors, Grassy Fields border die, Sakura White Gel pen, Brother Scan & Cut 2

I started by watercoloring my trees and background.    Next I watercolored the images and cut them out with my Brother Scan & Cut.    Next I spritzed the trees and background with my Tim Holtz Spritzer and then picked up the water droplets with a paper towel to lift some color.  Next I splattered some color on with the same color that I colored the pieces.

I colored the image with Peerless watercolors and let them dry after a base coat was completed.  Then I added one more layer of watercolor.  I used a Prisma Colored pencil for the blush on both of them.   To finish it off, I stamped my sentiment using my Misti to ensure that I got a nice solid image and then added the veneer stars.

Warm Wishes and Sunny Smiles

With Spring in full swing, I cannot help but think of longer days with Sunshine and beautiful weather to hang outside and enjoy nature!  This card came out of looking at my new stash and putting my two favorite lines together - Birdie Brown and Pure Innocence from My Favorite Things!

The images were stamped and masked with MFT Hybrid Chocolate Brown ink so that I could Copic color the images.    I colored some grass in the background with my Copics but added the Grassy Border for the sentiment to try to make it appear that they are sitting in some really tall grass soaking up the sunshine!

The clouds were added by using a cloud border and some Distress ink in Tumbled Glass to form the cloudy sky.     The panel was popped up on another panel to provide a nice white border.    The grassy  panel for the sentiment was sponged with some green ink to provide some depth to the colored panel.

All products are My Favorite Things unless otherwise noted below:

Stamps:  BB Cool Cat, BB Lucky Dog, BB Polynesian Paradise, PI Spring Friends
Inks: Hybrid Chocolate Brown, Distress: Tumbled Glass, Mowed Lawn, Crushed Olive, Versamark
Papers: Kraft, Lemon Drop, Jelly Bean Green, Smooth White, Copic Xpress it

My Favorite Things Pure Innocence Spring Friends

Happy Sunday!  What a beautiful weekend we had.   We had friends in town and beautiful weather!   Everything is blooming!  If only the yellow pollen would go away.     I got some inky time today to make a card.     I used my new Pure Innocence stamp, Spring friends and created a card loosely on this week's My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge.  I am mean real loose.    I call this a spot light technique where I match the background to the focal image.   I have done it with this post as well.

The image was stamped in My Favorite Things Hybrid Hot Fudge Ink and colored with Copcis.    The focal point was cut out with a Circle 2 Stax dynamic and then layered with Stitched and Scalloped Circle Frame in Peach Bellini yardstick.  I am normally heavy handy with my Copic coloring but this time I left it really light and airy with the colors on the image.
The focal image was popped up with foam tape.

I used a cloud border die and some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink to make the clouds in the sky.  You can barely see in the photos because I made them really light.   Some Sour Apple card stock was stamped with MFT Linen Background using Sour Apple Hybrid Ink.    The panel was mounted on a Stampin Up Early Espresso card stock A2 base.

I used my White Sakura Gel pen and Clear Wink of Stella to add some finishing touches.

Stamps:  MFT PI Spring Friends, Linen Background
Inks:   MFT Hybrid Hot Fudge, Sour Apple, Distress Tumbled Glass
Papers: MFT Smooth White, Copic Xpress it, MFT Sour Apple, Peach Bellini, SU Early Espresso
Tools: MFT Circle Stax 2, Blueprints 2, Stitched and Scalloped Circle Stax, Sakura White Gel Pen, Clear Wink of Stella, Copics
