My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge! All feathers!

Good afternoon!  I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!   We had family in town and it was wonderful to have everyone around to share the holidays.   I decorated my house for Christmas, we start celebrating next weekend!  What!!!  Time is flying by for me!    I have my whole family coming next weekend for Christmas so I was really busy decorating, wrapping and getting ready for another fun weekend!

For this week's sketch, I stuck straight to the sketch and made a card using the Accent It Feathers and Arrows die from My Favorite Things.     My brain had way to much to process this week so it was easy to stick to the sketch.   I have been making so many Christmas cards, I decided to go with a sherbet color scheme to change it up a bit.

I used a new background stamp from MFT called Winter Waves.  It was stamped on Stone Grey cardstock and cut out with the Blueprints 13 frame with stitching.   I stamped the background stamp using Simon Says Stamp Fog dye ink using my MISTI to get the background fully stamped.    Like I said above, I wanted a palette of sherbet colors for my card and used Peach Bellini, Coral Crush, Persimmon, Tangy Orange and Tickled Pink.

The feathers were cut out using the Accent it Feathers and Arrows die and I used the small feather.   The die adds the detail to the feather and allows you to bend slightly to pop up off the card stock.    The panel was added straight to a white card stock base and the feathers add dimension to the card.

The sentiment was stamped on a strip of Basic Black cardstock from Stampin Up! and I used a greeting from MFT Top Dog and masked off part of the greeting to get Birthday Wishes.    Birthday wishes was stamped in Versamark ink and then heat embossed with Hero Arts White Embossing Powder.   I added some 4 mm and 6 mm Sparkling Clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh to finish it off.
Super simple card design but love the colors and the pop of black and white for the sentiment.

Thanks for joining me today!    I hope you have an awesome week!

Online Card Classes - Holiday Style - Cute and Whimsical Season's Tweetings

I got one card created after watching the Online Card Classes Holiday Style class.   I loved watching all the videos but had no time to create.    I loved Laura Fadora's Cute and Whimsical card and one layer wonder.    I tried out this technique and loved the results.   I rarely make one layer cards so this was pretty fun!

I started by stamping the Season's Tweeting PI Image onto Neenah Solar White 110 lb card stock.   I created a mask using some post it note paper and stamped the bird image on the card.     Because I wanted to create texture to the jacket, I colored the jacket in and then applied some Colorless blender with a piece of textured fabric.   I let it dry and applied by mask on top of the PI image.   I used the snow drifts die cut out some more masking paper and created my snowy hill by using a blending tool and blended Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and Chipped Sapphire lighty above the masking paper.   Don't overdue the sponging, you really want just to make the snow drift stand out and add a halo of color to the card and blend out to white.

The greeting was stamped from My Favorite Things Hand Lettered Holiday with Versafine Onyx Black ink.   I used by MISTI to really get a solid black crisp image.     A white Sakura Gel pen was used to make the snow.   The images were then colored in with Copic Markers.   Because my markers bleed thru the back of the paper, I added a backing to the top with some very thin Stampin Up Whisper White card stock.   One layer wonder with some support!

I just love the way the image pops from the card!     I will have to give this one layer wonder card another try!     Thanks for stopping by!

My Favorite Things - Toasty Greetings

Hey there!   Life has been a little complicated for me lately.   We have had so much going on that I really have not had time to craft at all.    I barely have time to just get the basics done, like laundry and grocery shopping.    It has been crazy and not always the fun kind of crazy.  Some good and some bad but we make it through and life starts a new day!     I always try to find some time to create because this is my stress reliever!   This card started out one way and finished another.   I had colored up some other images to use but was not working for me.   I had the Toasty Greetings die cut and stamped and pulled some of those to use in this weeks sketch.   I was really trying hard not to make another holiday card because I just wanted to make a good old fashioned birthday card, you may remember those right?    But lately I have succumbed to not being very pragmatic with my purchases and ended up with a lot of new Christmas and Holiday stamps sets.   To use them all, I will be making holiday cards thru December, right into January!   I was weak, likely because I was not getting any really good crafty time and used my craft energy on shopping! :-)   I think some others out there can relate right?

Now onto the card........

The sketch is from this weeks My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge.    I used the MFT Birdie Brown Toasty Greetings stamp set for this card.

The panel is made from Watercolor card stock and sponged with Distress inks in Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot.   Then I cut with the Doubled Stitched Rectangle stax. I used Hero Arts white embossing powder to emboss the greeting from the stamp set and used a white gel pen to create some snow.

The images were colored with Copics after being cut with the matching die cuts and I added some Distress Stickles for some glittery shimmer.    The snow panel was topped on top of some Wild Cherry Card stock cut with Rectangle 1 stax.     The faux washi banner is from Blueprints 13.

The card was then layered together on some Kraft card stock.

Stamps:  MFT Birdie Brown Toasty Greetings
Inks: Versamark, MFT Hybrid Black Licorice, Distress: Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, Chipped Sapphire, Black Soot

My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge - Merry Christmoose

A quick card today.   I had very little crafty time this weekend! :-(   I really wanted to make some Christmas cards this weekend but it was not in the cards for me!      I could not wait to use this new set from Birdie Brown, Merry Christmoose.    I colored the moose with Copic markers and added some Wink of Stella to the hat for some sparkle.   I am sending this to my friend whose birthday is today.   It will get there late but I think she will like it!

I stamped the images with MFT's Hybrid Black Licorice ink and colored with Copic markers.   I used my white Sakura Gel pen to add some dots to the sweater.    I cut the main panel with the Doubled Stitched Rectangle Stax twice, once on some Smooth White card stock and on Red Hot card stock.   I stamped the Red Hot card stock with the Sketched Chevron Background stamp using MFT Hybrid Red Hot ink.    I stamped the sentiment on some black card stock with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Hero Arts White embossing powder.    The main panel was then placed on top of MFT Summer Splash card stock stamped with the Swiss Dot Background with Blu Raspberry Hybrid ink.

Real Simple Christmas Card - Winter Wonderland

I created a real simple but cute Christmas card using the small images in the My Favorite Things Winter Wonderland stamp set.  I had stamped the images on some watercolor paper to color and cut out and when I looked at the panel, I thought that would really be cute as a card.   So I stamped some more images on to another panel and created a quick and simple one layer Christmas card!

My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge - Dashing By

Happy Monday!  I had the day off and crafted all day!   Whoo! Whoo!   I also slipped an eye doctor exam in there as well.    I have not had much time to craft these past two weekends and loaded up today.  I will have a couple of cards to share this week.   I also got started making some tags for my Christmas packages.    Today, I spent most of the day watercoloring.

I watercolored this My Favorite Things Pure Innocence Dashing By image with my Zig Clean Color markers.     I used watercolor paper for my image and background.     The background panel was cut from watercolor paper and I used the Blueprints 15 stitched panel.    I then stamped Lisa Johnson Designs by MFT Snowflake Splendor in Versamark ink and used Hero Arts White Embossing powder.   I heat embossed the snowflakes and then colored with Distress Inks in Peacock Feathers, Broken China and Tumbled Glass and watered down the ink to get a wash of color.

I then heat embossed with Hero Arts White Embossing Powder on Razzle Berry card stock with my Fishtail Flag stax and topped it off with some Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins.
