Mama Elephant Just Hatched!

I had recently ordered this set from Mama Elephant - Just Hatched!  I am in love with Mama Elephant stamps and dies.    They have some really cute images.     For the background, I was inspired by Jennifer McGuire's card here.   I used my Simon Says Stamp Falling Stars die to create a stencil. I stamped some on with ink and then flipped the stencil over and colored embossing paste and then added Iridescent embossing powder from Stampin Up!.    I set it aside to dry for about 30 minutes and then embossed the background.    It is all sparkly but hard to see in the photo.

Stamps: Just Hatched
Ink: Hero Arts Black, SU Pink Pirouette, Memento Tuxedo Black, SU Soft Sky
Paper: SU Soft Sky, Copic, MFT Smooth White
Tools: Mama Elephant Femme Frames, Just Hatched dies, MFT Fishtail Flag Stack,  SSS Falling Stars Die, Embossing Paste, Iridescent SU Embossing Powder, Copics, Signo White Pen

Wonderful Mistake!

This card started off being something totally different.   I have been playing with my Distress inks and markers this past week making backgrounds.   I love watching Kristina Werner's blog and You Tube channel and got on a kick with the Distress inks.    I was trying to make the background pink, yellow and orange but it just was not working.   I used my markers to put ink on the water color paper and when I added water the marker lines were still showing.   I gave up on it and left it alone for a couple of days and then sprayed it with water again.   I kept adding ink and water and used my heat gun to dry in between.    It still did not look just write so I laid my Simon Says Medium Dot Stencil and blotted water on top.   It added just a subtle effect.   Then I splattered it with some Heidi Swap Gold Color Shine.    I really loved how it turned out.

Here are some close ups to see the gold shine added.

Stamps:  MFT LJD Pretty Poppies
Paper:  MFT Pink Lemonade, MFT Whip cream, watercolor, MFT Fuse Green
Ink: Delicata Gold
Tools: Distress Markers, Heidi Swap Gold Color Shine, MFT Blueprints 2, MFT Feathers & Arrows, Vintage button, twine, Mama Elephant Femme Frames

Just goes to show, don't throw away your mistakes.   You may be able to give it a fresh look or use it in a different way!

Lawn Fawn - Happy Trails

I have a weakness for the camper stamp sets.   I think they are so cute.    They are popping up all over the place!  Every time I see one, I want to get it!  I had gotten this stamp set and die set from Lawn Fawn shortly after the release.   Soon afterward My Favorite Things released some new products with a similar theme.   I am hooked!  They are just adorable. I made this card a couple of weeks ago but did not have time to photograph card.

I started off with some Smooth White Card stock from MFT and used my Distress inks to do the background sky.  I don't have the colors used but Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers and Broken China is usually my go to colors for sky. I used a little Black Soot at the top to just darken it up.      I used my Simon Says Falling Stars die to create the starry background. (just love this die!!  Waited a long time for it to come back in stock - watched it FOREVER!)

I created the landscape with more Smooth White Card stock, Distress inks and my Mama Elephant Landscape trio die to make some hills.    I colored images with Copic markers.   They were cut out with the matching dies.   I used a MFT Blueprint 2 for the sentiment strip and added a heart from Blueprints 8.   Added some Wink of Stella glitter pen and call it done!

Trot on……

I got really stampy this weekend and created a bunch of cards!!   I used my new Pure Innocence image, Trot On and colored up this cutie with some Copic Markers.

This card used some new items that I got from the past months release from My Favorite Things to include my PI Trot On image, Blueprints 13,  and the Wood plank background stamp.   I started by coloring my image.    Once I created my image, I built my card around this.   Normally, I start with the papers I want to use and then determine my color scheme but I could not wait to color up this image so that was my inspiration piece.

Stamps:  MFT Pure Innocence Trot On, Typewriter Text Background, Striped Background, Wood plank Background.
Paper:  MFT Wild Cherry, Primitive, SU Early Espresso, PI Kraft, Copic
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede
Tools:  MFT Pierced Circle Stax, Fishtail Flag Stax, Blueprints 13, Brads

Thanks for stopping by today!   Keep checking back this week for more cards!

Roughing it --- Love these new camp related stamps!

When I saw this stamp set and die, I could not wait to get it!   I was not a big camper until a few years ago.  Camping is so much better with a camper than a tent!   I love being outdoors and being around a campfire.      Here are two cards that I created with the new MFT Roughing it stamp set and Happy Camper die.

My first card, uses the Happy Camper die and Campy Tree lines from MFT.   This card was all dies but I loved building my camper.       On the inside I stamped the sentiment from the Roughing it stamp set -- You make me a Happy Camper!    This could easily be a thank you card for someone.

Paper:   MFT Jelly Bean Green, Whip Cream, Wild Cherry, Steel Grey,  Sweet Tooth, SU Soft Sky, Soft Suede, PI Kraft
Tools:  MFT Happy Camper Die, Flat Bottomed clouds and Campy Tree Lines

For my next card, I decided to create a night sky with some Mister Huey's Color Mist in Opaque White.  Instead of misting the paper, unscrew the cap and use the spray to tap some stars out on the Nightshift blue paper.    Set aside to dry, I zapped it with my heat gun but you can see that it may still be a little wet underneath, I got a small smear on the right side when I was applying some adhesive.

Stamps:  MFT Roughing It
Paper:  PI Kraft, MFT Whip Cream, Nightshift Blue, Jellybean green, Copic
Tools:  Copic Markers, ME Creative Cuts Landscape trio

Two Cards to Share today!

I have been traveling this past couple of weeks and have not had a lot of stamping time.    I had a few moments this past weekend and did a card for the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club and the Color Palette Challenge.

My first card is for the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club.  I received my order this week and the Lily die-namic was this months free item.   I loved the card examples shared during the release.  They look so springy!!    This is using this week's sketch MFTWSC167.

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Papers:   MFT Pink Lemonade, Sweet Tooth, Banana Split, PI Kraft

My next card is for the MFT Color Palette Challenge.   The colors for this month were Kraft, Grapesicle, Berrylicious, and Sour Apple.   I used this past weeks Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge for my layout.    I was too late to add it to the challenge site.    For my image, I colored with Copic markers.   I took a Copic Class recently and learned how to color black hair.   This is a really cute image for Easter that I had.   It went perfectly with the color challenge.  Spring is right around the corner!!  The flowers on our trees are starting to bloom.   I am ready to say good bye to Winter!

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 209 - Stylish Friends

Hope you are having an awesome week!   Loved this week's sketch from Karen Giron at the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.    I saw a really cute card by Karen Motz that used some of my favorite Uptown Girls from Stamping Bella, it made me think of my MFT WBD Stylish Friends.

The images were colored with Copics and then I added some Wink of Stella Clear Glitter here and there.  It is hard to see in the photo.   The paper is from Basic Grey, True Love.   Love this pack, love all the colors in it.   I used the colors in the pack to pick out colors for the girls.

Looking for the Rainbow!

I had this Rainbow die from My Favorite Things for a while.    I had picked it up after seeing a card that I really liked with it.  This is the card here.   When I first cut it out, I thought it would be best to use liquid glue but then  I found this tutorial here that shows you how to put adhesive to the back of the rainbow and keep it together.   Makes it super simple to whip them altogether.  With one pass of color with the die, you can make 7 rainbows.  I used two for my cards and save the rest for a rainy day!

 Stamps:  MFT LJD Cheerful Blessings
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:  MFT Sweet Tooth, MFT Card Stock Sampler (Grapesicle, Grape Jelly, Lemon Drop, Wild Cherry, Berrylicious, Sour Apple, Tangy Orange

My Favorite Things Sailor Girl

I got some new items from the recent release from MFT and colored up this little sweetie this past week.  I decided to break out one of my Blueprints and go with one of the sketches suggested for the die set.    She was colored with Copic markers and then I used a charcoal pencil to add some shading.    I tried stamping this image in several different colors of Memento ink but ended up using the one with the Tuxedo Black.   I also liked with brown ink for the image and will save that for another card.  I love this paper pad that I paired with the image.  It is perfect for this little Sailor Girl.   It is called Glitz Uncharted Waters.

Stamps:  MFT Sailor Girl, MFT Owl Costume (sentiment)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Versamark
Paper:  PI Kraft, MFT Sweet Tooth, SU Soft Suede, MFT Nightshift Blue, Glitz Uncharted waters
