My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club - MFTWSC182

Here is my card for this week's sketch challenge.    I used my new MFT PI Sending Big Hugs and coordinating die to make this card.   I love this color combo of Pink Lemonade, Fuse Green and Hot Fudge Brown!    I colored the image with Copic markers and added some detail with a Sakura white gel pen.

\\

I used an Embossing Folder to create a soft background for my image.   This is a SU embossing folder and I am not sure what the name is of the folder.  To soften the texture even more, after embossing I ran back thru the Big Shot with the rectangle star to flatten it out just a little.   It makes the impression look softer.

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge - SSSC223

I was able to play this week in the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.   Yea!!    I discovered that she posts her sketches on Saturday evening on Facebook, so I got a head start with the sketch.    I started with MFT Birdie Brown You're Super.   I went thru Pintrest to look for color combos -- I ended up with some pinks, grays and black and loved how they turned out on the card.   The pink is Strawberry Slush from Stampin UP.  I tend to hoard this card stock cause I just love the color.

When I started this card, I knew that I wanted a sunburst behind the Supergirl and used my MFT Sunray Stencil and my distress inks to make a vibrant sun burst.

The stamped image was colored with Copic Markers and used the corrdinating die to cut out the image.   You cannot really see it in the photo but I covered her with some Wink of Stella Clear glitter to make her sparkle.    I just love her mask - it makes her look a little like Cat Women.

All card stock and stamps were used to make the background for the sketch.

Stamps:  MFT Birdie Brown You're Super, Linen Background, On the Diagonal Background
Ink: MFT Hybrid Black Licorice, Distress Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade, SU Strawberry Slush, SSS Fog Ink, Versamark
Paper: MFT Grout Grey, Steel Blue, Steel Grey, Smooth White, Copic Xpress it, SU Strawberry Slush, SU Basic Black
Tools:  MFT Pierced Circle Stax, Rectangle Frames, You're Super dies, MFT Skyline, Wink of Stella Clear, White Embossing Powder

I really loved how it turned out.   Love the color combo and will need to use this again!

Distress Ink Watercoloring -- MFT Doodle Garden Sweet as can Bee

I grabbed this stamp set up on sale at My Favorite Things.    I have really been in to watercoloring and trying out new things.    I follow Kristina Werner's blog and just love her videos and she is great inspiration for any card maker.      Distress inks and markers are probably my favorite mediums to color with and I think the easiest to learn the technique.   It is not perfect coloring but that to me is what is so great about it.   Mistakes can be fixed sometimes or left in for a wonderful surprise! :-)

I used Tim Holtz Watercolor paper and stamped my image in Archival Black ink.    I used my Distress Markers to color the image and used my heat gun to dry each area that I painted.   I am impatient when it comes to watercoloring and it is hard for me to step away and come back.

The background was done using my Distress Ink pads on an acrylic block and then creating a wash of a mixture of different colors.   After I was done with the background, I covered up my image with some post it notes and then flicked ink with a lot of water onto my panel.  TIP:  Put this in a box to keep the splatter down on things around you including yourself! :-)  Ask me how I know…..  Then I used just a brush and water to place different water drops on the card.  I left them on for about 30-60 seconds and put a napkin on top to pick up the water.  The ink is still reactive to the water.

I set the watercolor panel under a book to really flatten it out.    My original intention was to cut this down or use a die to cut a shape out with the image but after it was completed, I really did not want to cut it down.   It is 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 size originally.   So I left it overnight to really flatten it out and then put a TON of foam tape on the back and added it to an A2 card base from MFT Smooth White Card Stock.

After I took the photos, I put some Wink of Stella Clear Glitter on the wings and it gave them just a little sparkle.   On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set - "don't worry, be happy."

I was super happy with how it turned out!

Father's Day Card -- Let's Hang Out -- MFT Color Palette Challenge 6

I wanted to make my dad a card with this stamp set and color the image like it was me.    To create my card, I started with the MFT Color Palette Challenge for June using Kraft, Nightshift Navy, Spearmint and Sweet Tooth.    I used some of my new goodies that I got this past month but have not had much time to play.   The stamp set is MFT Birdie Brown Let's Hang Out.  I just love her stamps!  :-)

I stamped the images with MFT Hybrid Black Licorice ink and die cut them with the matching dies.  I used my new MFT Rectangle Frames (love these!!)    I used the Sweet Tooth Card stock and stamped with the Linen Background stamp and MFT Snocone Hybrid ink lightly and I did not press down very firmly.   I wanted it to be random on the background.  You cannot really see in the photo but can in real life.

Stamps:  MFT Birdie Brown Let's Hang Out, SU Teeny Tiny Wishes, MFT Linen Background
Ink: MFT Hybrid Black Licorice
Paper: MFT Kraft, Nightshift Blue, Spearmint and Sweet Tooth, Copic Xpress
Tools: Copics, MFT Grassy Border Die, Let's Hang Out Die, Rectangle Frames, Sakura White Gel Pen, Wink of Stella Clear

I was able to play with the sketch this week!   I love Karen's sketch's.   They are fabulous!   I just discovered that she posts the sketches on her Facebook page the Saturday before the Sunday Sketch!   Yea!    I normally do my crafting on Saturdays.   Sundays are always busy for me.   So I was super excited when I figured this out!  I may get to join more often.

I used MFT Pure Innocence Popping by!   In case you did not know, MFT is having a sale on retired stamps and dies.     I am a huge fan and jumped on that for some great bargins.   This cutie is one of them and she is 50% off.

I colored her up with Copic Markers on Copic Xpress Blending card stock    I tried to make her shirt look like tie die and added some detail with a Sakura gel pen.   The paper pack is My Mind's Eye The Sweetest Thing Tangerine along with  MFT Steel Grey and Tangy Orange card stock.    I got to use my new Horizontal Stitched Strips.

My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club - MFTWSC178

This week's sketch was a challenge for me.   It took me some time to think about how I was going to create a card with the sketch.   To get some inspiration, I started flipping thru my dies.     I came across this staggered heart border and thought that would work!   While the sketch was a challenge to get started, I was pretty happy with how it turned out.

I started with some SU Basic Black card stock and used the MFT Staggered Hearts Die border and ran thru for 3 connected borders.    I then took various scraps of MFT Card stock and ran with the individual hearts until I got enough to choose for the card.    I had plenty of extra to save for other projects.     I attached them to my panel with some Mono glue and then trimmed my card stock down.   I added the Glittered flag and attached it to some MFT Berrylicious card stock.   I stamped the "you are amazing" from the Doodle Garden I'm Raptor Round your Finger.    The card base is MFT Smooth White card stock.   I love this card stock for card bases as well as stamping.   It is very heavy, 110 pound heavy weight card stock.

I liked the way the finished card turned out.     Let me know what you think!
