Hey there! I am back again today to share some more inspiration with the August Club La-La Land Crafts Monthly Kit!
I created two cards - my first one I went a little out of the box with the dies in the kit to create a cute scene with Movie Night Marci.
I started by creating my background panel with the Simple Joys Background Stamp set. I used the large background to stamp on the Comfy Chair and then as I did with my previous projects, I then trimmed it down and layered it onto another image to get the white border around the chair. I shaded it with my Copic markers. You will find the full list of markers below. For my wallpaper, I used the wheat stamp from Simple Joys and created wallpaper using light blue cardstock and matching ink. I just added a strip of white paper for the trim. For the wood floor, I used the Wood Planks Background Stamp set.
For the lamp, shelf and plant, I used the Retro TV and the Popcorn dies that come with the August kit. The Popcorn box made the lamp shade and planter. The pile of popcorn was die cut from green so that is looks like a plant. The VCR from the Retro TV die was die cut from dark brown cardstock and I ink blended on it a tag to darken the die cuts. I used it for my shelf. The lamp base was made using the half circle from the Retro TV antenna and a strip of cardstock with the Popcorn bucket turned upside down. I added some jewels to make it a little fancy. :-)
For Movie Night Marci, I colored her with my Copic markers and gave her a leopard print top along with fuzzy slippers. The sentiment is from the Comfy Chair stamp set and was die cut with the Curved Pocket die. I added some jewels to her remote control as well!

Next up, I created a slimline card and made another scene card. For the wallpaper on this card, you cannot see very much of it but I used the
Wood Plank Background Stamp set and made it into 70's paneling. I added a strip of white cardstock to the bottom for trim. For the
Comfy Chair, I did the paper piecing again and stamped one image with the
Just For You Background Stamp and then used my Copic markers to add shadows and dimension.
I colored
Movie Night Marci along with her little puppy with my Copics. I don't often do dark hair and I tried a dark skin tone. I need to expand my Copic skills out a little further and try some more combinations. I used some deep pinks and purples. I used my color wheel to find a complimentary color. If you go to my
Pinterest page, you will find a Color Inspiration board with tons of color wheels. I use these to help me decide what color combinations to use sometimes. Yellow Green is the complimentary color for red-violet. Greys and Beiges are free colors to me and can be used anytime with any other colors!
I die cut the
Retro TV along with the antenna and the VCR for the left hand side of my card. I scattered some of the
Popcorn kernels around the card. I added some
Tropical Leaves for my house plant. If I had room, I would have added the
Popcorn box - believe me, I tried! :-) The sentiments were die cut using the
Curved Pocket die. Below are all the Copic markers I used for this card:
